5 kayaking routes to do with kids in Mallorca

Kayaking is a trendy activity. It´s not strange to find kayakers in the calm waters near the shore, trying to find secret spots unable to reach by foot. The best part of this sport? That everyone can practice it, kids included.

If you like the sea and adventure, get your kids into a kayak! It´s an easy and safe sport that will also bring the younger ones closer to the nature. Paddling together you’ll reach unexplored areas, giant cliffs, hidden caves and several types of fishes and birds.

If kayaking is one of the best sports to practice with your kids, Mallorca is the perfect place to do it. The island offers more than 500 kilometers of shore with spots and caves only accessible by sea.

Even though there are no age limits, 4-year-old kids can already ride a kayak and 6-year-old can use their own paddle. This is, always, with an adult by their side in a K2 (a kayak for two people). It´s mandatory for both kids and adults to wear a life vest during their time in the water.

If this is your first time and you’re not familiar with Mallorca’s coast, it’s a good idea to take an instructor with you in order to know the basics (how to paddle or what to do if the kayak turns upside down). He´ll also be able to guide you through simple routes.

So you can start making up your mind, we’ve selected some of the most beautiful kayak routes that can be done in Mallorca. Of course, all of them are  suitable for kids.

Sa Marina – Manresa

A simple 7-kilometer route (round trip), that starts at Pollença bay and ends in Manresa, with beautiful beaches in its course like the popular Es Bacarés.

Son Serra – Son Real

The virgin coast of Son Real is well worth a visit from your kayak. Through the route, you can stop at Arenal den Casat to rest a bit and dive in its transparent water.

Puerto Portals – Illetes

The route starts at Portals Nous beach, takes you through Cala Oli or Cala Comtesa and ends at Illetas beach. Don’t forget to wave at swimmers!

Betlem – Es Caló

In this case, your kayak will allow you to discover Llevant´s Natural Park. This route will help you discover incredible beaches and caves located beneath Farrutx´s mountains.

Costa dels Pins

Perfect for beginners. You’ll paddle by Port Verd´s port and, if you try, you´ll find some hidden caves between the rocks.

The view of Mallorca´s coast from a kayak will leave you speechless and will, most likely, make your kids become fans of this sport. It´s a fun activity, full of adventure that you’ll be able to enjoy with your family.
