Tapas is central to Palma’s foodie culture and it’s a great way to cheaply try new dishes.
There are no better memories than those shared with someone special; so visiting the Balearic Islands with your significant other is a wise choice. You will always remember together the paradisiacal beaches, the sunsets and the walks under the moonlight. If you’re planning a romantic getaway, you’ll find your ideal destination in the Balearic archipelago.
The islands have that je ne sais quoi that invites you to relax, disconnect and focus only on the other person. Spending quality time as a couple is very important for a relationship; so a getaway to the Balearic Islands will suit you no matter how you are. You will get back home even more in love than when you left (if that’s possible!).
During your stay, you´ll want to plan activities that excite both of you in order to create unforgettable memories. With that in mind, here go some ideas for plans to make as a couple in the Balearic Islands:
Flying over the island in a hot air balloon will be an experience that will remain forever in your memory. You´ll see the Sierra de Tramuntana from above, as well as the sea and the surrounding islands, or enjoy the moonlight if you dare to do it at night.
The sunsets on the Balearic Islands are famous: the sky is dyed with colors while the sun hides behind the sea. This spectacle is especially beautiful on the island of Menorca, at the foot of the lighthouse of Cavalleria. From this point you will have wonderful views to enjoy a magical moment.
The island of Menorca is beautiful no matter where you look, and this also means the sea. Include in your plans a beautiful day on a sailboat profiling the coast of the island and discovering hidden coves. This is maybe the most romantic and special plan to enjoy as a couple.
If you like collecting sunsets, you cannot miss Es Vedrá. Stand by the cliff of Cala D’hort or in the Tower of Savinar and watch the sun set slowly.
The wineries of Binissalem produce some of the most special wines of Mallorca. Together you’ll be able to discover the vineyards and the process of making these wines (as well as tasting them to be able to check the quality of them, of course!). A fun and different couple plan.
In this terrace sculpted in stone, overlooking the Mediterranean, you will have the opportunity to have one of the most beautiful toasts you’ll ever have. The views and the place are amazing, so do not miss the chance to visit it. It is advisable to reserve a table.
Dalt Vila is the old part of the city of Ibiza, the ideal place to walk by night. Don´t miss the Renaissance walls, the narrow streets, the whitewashed houses, the silent squares … and the panoramic views of the harbor over the city walls.
While going horse-riding in the sunset is usually a firm favourite with couples, we think it’s even more romantic to marvel at the wildlife under the sea. Crystal clear waters, abundant marine life, and a trained professional will leave you with an unforgettable diving experience. The Sea Horse Scuba Diving Centre holds the Balearic Governmental ‘CB’ certificate of Authorisation – one of only eight in Ibiza. Their base is at the Cala d’Hort Marine Nature Reserve, which provides some of the best diving spots in the Mediterranean.
The Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has some of the most beautiful views in all of Europe. Couples can drive along the mountain range from Andratx to Pollenca, while admiring the pine-covered slopes, pretty little villages, and the Mediterranean Sea. Stop for a bite to eat and explore the pretty coastal village of Deia. If you have time for more stops, the beautiful villages Valldemossa and Sóller are definitely worth a visit as well.
Mahon Port, the world’s second deepest natural port, was awarded a ‘Certificate of Excellence’ by Trip Advisor for good reason. Everything about it is excellent – the views, the harbour, as well as the restaurants and shops set around the front. The one-hour boat tour will teach you about Menorca’s history as well as the modern features of the island. After that, you can enjoy a romantic lunch at one of the harbour-front restaurants (we recommend Rainbow Spice Restaurant), while overlooking the panoramic vistas.
Formentera is like Ibiza’s hippie little sister – it caters to some of the more relaxed holidays in the Balearic Islands. One of its major attractions is the Artisans’ market held every Wednesday and Sunday during the summer time. There are about fifty stalls displayed by the artisans of the island – offering a wide range of jewellery, handbags, paintings, ceramics, clothing, and a variety of other products made from natural materials. In July, thousands of people from all ages and backgrounds flock to Sant Francesc central square for a ‘flower power’ party. Here, you can dance to the music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s in a psychedelic-decorated Plaça.
With Caribbean-like white sands stretching as far as the eye can see, a laidback atmosphere, and incredibly clear azure waters – you can see why Playa de Ses Illetes constantly makes it onto lists of the best beaches in the world. To keep the ‘unspoilt paradise’ appeal, there are no showers and sunbeds – just a few beachside restaurants where you can enjoy some delicious seafood.
Take a romantic stroll on the soft sands of Ses Salines – situated on the island’s south coast, a short 10-minute drive from Ibiza Town. Ses Salines has everything you need in a beach: vast stretches of pale sands, beautiful views, water sports, and crystal clear waters. It isn’t a very quiet beach – as it’s lined with restaurants, bars, and beach boutiques – but it’s definitely one of the trendier spots that will guarantee a good time.
Playa de Muro, located on the north coast of Majorca near the resort of Alcudia, is an endless stretch of fine, golden sand. This beautiful beach is lined with pine and juniper trees, but it also boasts a lot of hotels and restaurants (it’s conveniently close to our apartment hotels). This blue flag beach that offers an array of watersports and many other amenities.
