Few conceive a full beach day without going to the beach bar to eat tapas, eat something more solid, have a coffee, a beer, a “tinto de verano” or, after dark, a drink. If we place ourselves in the privileged natural environment of the coast of Menorca, it is considered an almost essential activity. Below you can find a list of the best beach bars in Menorca to enjoy this summer.
Es Bruc
Many seem to agree that Es Bruc is one of the best beach bars in Menorca; if not the best. This restaurant is located in the south of the island, on the coast in Santo Tomás, with access to the beaches of San Adeodato and Binigaus -one of the best in Menorca- and Cala Escorxada. It has highly privileged views and serves Mediterranean food, different salads, fish and tapas.

Café bar Susy
In another spectacular setting we find the café bar Susy. Located in Cala Macarella, without doubt the best “cala” of Menorca thanks to its wild natural beauty, its incredible crystalline waters and the impressive cliffs that surround it. This beach is 100% family-friendly and has been working since the 1960s. It opens until 11 at night and stands out for its grilled fish or Galician octopus.

Los Bucaneros
Surely the most iconic one amongst the beach bars of Menorca is Los Bucaneros one: the typical semi-circular fisherman’s house with a red door. Located on the beach of Binibeca (and very close to the spectacular village of Binibeca Bell), it is the Menorcan beach bar which has its tables closest to the sea. They claim that it is even possible to fall into the water from the bar. It is also a great place to watch the sunset.

Trogloditas and Baristiu
About 7 km from Ciudadela, on the cliffs of Cala Morell (definitely one of the 10 best coves of Menorca) we find two unique establishments: first, Troglodytes, a good restaurant with privileged views of the “cala” and specialized in Mediterranean food. And second, Baristiu, a terrace built on rocks with the same name and perfectly integrated into the environment. It has a specific menu for children and is known for its fish grills. Furthermore, it also serves all kinds of tapas and appetizers.

Sa Cova and Pirata
In Cala en Blanes, another magical corner of the Menorcan coast, there are two famous beach bars. The oldest is Sa Cova which like the Bucaneros de Binibeca is built around a fisherman’s hut where the boats were kept. It has been working since the 70s and serves good barbecues and cocktails in a chill out music environment ideal for enjoying the sunset. In the shade of a palm grove, we find the more recent Pirata. Both these beach bars and their late closing hours give Cala en Blanes a hectic nightlife.
Restaurante Cap Roig
Much more than a beach bar, Cap Roig is a high-end restaurant with 35 years of history. Located in Sa Mesquida bay, it has incredible views. Further, it is 5km away from Mahón and is therefore, a bit far from the beach, but its paellas and fish are well worth a visit. Vegetarian dishes, pizzas, tapas or sandwiches – in addition to breakfast – are some of the offers of the much more modest but amazing Oasis de Son Bou, located between this beach and Son Saura.

Cueva de Xoroi
Without being strictly a beach bar -more a day bar and a nightclub- the Xoroi Cave is a must . It is located on a cliff above the Cala en Porter (one of the 5 beaches of Menorca with blue flag). Thanks to its viewpoints and terraces on different heights, it offers one of the most spectacular views of the entire island. Finally, highlighted in decoration magazines as one of the most well-designed beach bars in the Mediterranean, we find Sa Falua, facing the harbour of Mahón (Carrer Moll de Llevant 94). It is more of a cocktail bar with a spectacular backyard.

Because of its status as a biosphere reserve, many beaches of Menorca must be kept virgin and cannot have catering services. Still, as we have seen, there are lots of beaches and “calas” with charm … and its corresponding beach bar, or “chiringuito” as they call it in Spanish. We hope you have found this review of the best beach bars in Menorca enriching and refreshing.
