Until now we mentioned the best ways you can get to know Mallorca on foot, running, by motorcycle, bike and by car. But we never mentioned you how wonderful it is to discover Mallorca by horse. Today we want to show you the best equestrian routes in Mallorca.
The Randa vineyards route
Just 30km away from Palma we find our first equestrian centre: Mallorca Horses. Here you have the marvellous opportunity to ride a Spanish purebred throughout the most stunning Mallorcan landscapes; the beautiful Randa vineyards, the town of Randa itself, the monasteries of Cura and la Iglesia de la Virgen de la Paz de Castellitx. In this route you also have the possibility to organize a tasty picnic, perfect for kids too, since they offer horses for every age.
Son Serra de Marina
On the road between Alcudia and Artá, near the Son Serra de Marina, is Rancho Grande Park. Riding a horse from this equestrian centre is a unique experience thanks to its location. Let yourself go and enjoy this unbelievable relaxing experience through its virgin landscapes. Stroll through the forest of Son Serra de Marina, perfect to ride thanks to its leafy and sandy ground. You will always be accompanied by expert monitors and riders together with a horse that fits perfectly your level.
Tramuntana and Albufera
Between Sa Pobla and Las Playas de Muro you can find Formentor Hípica. This equestrian centre, apart from offering you lovely daily excursions, also gives you the privilege to visit the entire island through excursions which last various days. They offer two different options: one option for amateurs and one for professionals. Both routes are worth to be seen.
If you don’t possess enough riding experience, then this is the perfect route for you. They will teach you how to brush and prepare your horse. As soon as it is ready you will have the possibility to enjoy a relaxing ride through the rural areas near Sa Pobla and enter the lovely Albufera Natural Reserve. If you have more experience this means that you can push yourself and reach by horse the municipality of Lluc in the Sierra de Tramuntana. It is the perfect excursion for horse and mountain lovers. The route begins in Sa Pobla where you can witness the typical Balearic agricultural landscape until you reach Campanet. The route then passes through Caimari, the area producing the best olive oil in Mallorca. Afterwards you will start the ascent towards the Sierra de Tramuntana until you reach Lluc. Prepare for a view that you will never forget.
Calas Ratjada to Cala Mesquida
Near Capdepera you can find the Hipico Cala Ratjada, situated very close to the sea. In this place they offer several types of excursions and routes. The first route, perfect for the unexperienced, is a route which passes through the forest and fields of Cala Ratjada. If you have more experience with horses, then you can take the other route that passes through the pine forest of Cala Ratjada, through the Agulla and Moltó coves. Then you will pass through the Puig de Águila and Talaia de Son Jaumell until reaching Cala Mesquida. There is no better place than this to end the route. Don’t forget your camera for this place.
We can assure you that once you will visit the best locations of Mallorca by horse, you won’t see the island in the same way again. Try it! This is the best way to experience its nature at its fullest.
